Letter written from Fairfield, CT by R. Blakeman to Richard Burroughs in Vergennes, VT, on January 6, 1831.
Rufus Blakeman (b. 12 Jan 1795, Huntington, CT; d. 27 Feb 1870, Fairfield, CT) was a member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives from Fairfield, 1839. For many years between 1824 and 1857, Blakeman also served as a Fellow of the Connecticut Medical Society becoming Vice-President in 1849 and President in 1851. In 1855, Blakeman was a Probate Court Judge.
Richard Burroughs (b. 12 Oct 1775, Stratford, CT; d. 22 Oct 1865, probably in Greene County, IL) was a member of the Vermont State Legislature from Waltham, 1831. For several years Burroughs was a teacher, distinguished as a mathematician and land surveyor.
Elisha Gale (b. 1 Sept 1775, Princeton, MA; d. 11 Dec 1858, Williamstown, VT), a farmer.A7
