SIZE: 6 inches by 8-7/8 inches CONDITION: EXTREMELY NICE !! - NO rips, tears or writing on it. NO stains. The color has aged with very slight lightening around the edges. The BOTTOM edge does have a couple of bumps and one corner has a very light crease - all of this could disappear under a mat in a frame. TIMEFRAME: See the WIKIPEDIA information below please !! There is no date on this, but with the H&CVRR mentioned, it is definitely before 1900. The HC&W\'s general office was at 373 Asylum St., Hartford, CT. The President was Wm. L. Gilbert and Walter Pearce is listed as General Ticket Agent. It is PER WIKIPEDIA: The Connecticut Western Railroad was chartered June 25, 1868 to run from Hartford, Connecticut to Millerton, New York, just over the state line. The Connecticut Western became bankrupt on April 27, 1880, and on March 31, 1881 it was reorganized as the Hartford & Connecticut Western Railroad. In 1889, the Hartford & Connecticut Western was leased by the Central New England & Western. It ran until1947, when it became part of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The Hartford & Connecticut Valley Railroad operated between 1879 and 1892; its successor was the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. The \"Silver Star\" was a small steamboat that carried passengers and freight on the Connecticut River between Saybrook and Hartford, stopping at all the landings in between. Called \"The People\'s Favorite,\" she was the most popular means of travel from shortly after the Civil War until the Connecticut Valley Railroad opened in 1871.
