VERY DAY LINCOLN DIES - 4/15/1865 - Andrew Johnson SIGNED Civil War Appointment:
ABSOLUTE ONE OF KIND Presidential signed Military/Army Civil War Appointment on the VERY DAY LINCOLN DIES - April 15th, 1865 by incoming President Andrew Johnson
100% authentic actual Civil War Army / Military promotion for a Mr. Curren to the Rank of First Lieutenant in the U.S. Volunteers hand signed in brown ink by President Andrew Johnson dated April 15th, 1865 pending consent of the U.S. Senate for meritorious services at the battle of the Wilderness in Spottsylvania (Virginia) and the operations before Richmond, Virginia.
Document measures approximately 19" x 16" in size on vellum and in very nice condition as well (looks far nicer than what my iPhone photographs) . Signature is quite distinct in nice brown ink by Andrew Johnson. Blue Dept. of War Seal is intact as seen and the document is further counter hand signed by Edwin Stanton (Lincolns Secretary of War)... interesting as well that on the very same day this historic document was being done.. it was Edwin Stanton who at about 7:22 am that very morning proclaimed that "...he (Lincoln) now belongs to the ages" after Lincolns last heartbeat on April 15th, 1865...
I acquired this document many years ago and has resided in my personal Presidential collection since. I have never seen another such "official" document signed by President Johnson on the very day he assumes the Presidency upon the immediate death of President Abraham Lincoln - April 15th, 1865 .
Given the enormity of the event and circumstances surrounding Lincolns assassination and the attempted assassination upon Andrew Johnson himself as part of the plot to kill the President and Vice President on April 14th, 1865 ... its likely only a few Presidential signed documents bearing this historic date "authentically signed" by President Johnson exist period...and doubtful any are as in nice a shape as this one and counter-signed by Lincoln's Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton !
April 15th , 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of Lincolns tragic death !
Item is of course guaranteed to pass JSA, PSA, or any other qualified 3rd party autograph certification as well or your FULL money back plus all YOUR expenses periodforever !
