This magnificent handwrought solid sterling silver handled stainless bladed letter opener was made by Chloe Darkeof Old Newbury Crafters, Amesbury, Massachusetts, in 2015,and bears her maker's mark alongside the ONC and Sterling marks to the side of the handle. A piece in their medieval patternCrusader, with a distinctive armorial-like design, similar to the fashion of the 1400s, is hand-hammered on one side of the handle, where the buttons are applied, and displays the facets left by the planishing hammer on the highly polished surface. The reverse side, or back of the opener is smooth and polished to a highgloss,This beautiful opener isnew, in mint condition,and bearsno monogram.A wonderful piece of silver from a company still in production today, whose lineage and traditions reach back to the earliest days of American silver and beyond.
