[John Brown} Secret Six Member Franklin Sanborn Invites Friend To Dinner:
$235.00

FRANKLIN BENJAMIN SANBORN (December 15, 1831 – February 24, 1917) was an abolitionist and a member of the Secret Six, the group of men who secretly funded John Brown’s Raid on the U.S. Arsenal in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Sanborn introduced Brown to the other five members of the Secret Six, making him the most important of the group. Brown’s objective was to seize weapons and foment a large-scale slave revolt in the South. The raid failed and Brown was captured, tried for treason and executed by hanging in Charles Town, Virginia on December 2, 1859.
